Kefalonia: the Big Island

Kefalonia is the largest of the seven Ionian Islands, celebrated for its stunning natural beauty and for retaining much of its unspoiled character. From Villa Daphni, you can easily explore the island’s many treasures while staying close to some of its most exceptional sights.
Recommended experiences:
  • Wander through the charming villages of Pylaros, such as Dendrinata and Drakapoulata, for a glimpse of authentic rural life.
  • Drive to the fishing port of Fiskardo and stroll through its cosmopolitan narrow streets. One of the few places to survive the devastating 1953 earthquake, Fiskardo and its surrounding villages still showcase original pre-earthquake architecture.
  • Stop at the small harbour of Assos on your way to Fiskardo and visit its historic Venetian castle.
  • Explore Mount Ainos, home to unique flora and spectacular views.
  • Discover the natural wonders of Melissani Cave and Drogarati Cave near Sami.
  • Step back in time at the 16th-century hilltop Castle of St. George near Peratata.
  • Visit Argostoli, the vibrant island capital.
  • Enjoy a wine-tasting at one of the local wineries – Visit Gentilini Winery for elegant wines in a beautiful setting or Charitatos Winery where you can also explore a well-preserved traditional Kefalonian country house.
  • Take a boat trip for a day cruise to the mythical island of Ithaca.
